The sly scout gazed across the calm waters, wondering about the past of his pack. They had said that Denali came from a grungy city so long ago. It was unknown why they came, though. Kuno usually thought it was because it was a poor place to live, and they probably heard about the lush island full of prey and trees, so they traveled far to find it. Maybe they wanted to forget the destructive humans, who always ruined the wild nature. But not even the island was free of the humans. The abandoned city was still there. The humans built it so long ago, and it still stood up tall and strong after many storms and strong winds. It bothered Kuno to think that the weak, two-legged humans were more powerful than wolves. Humans were skinny little creatures with no claws. How could they have been so destructive and powerful? They couldn't fight and win with any wolf - not even Kuno, who was awful at fighting. It was a wonder that they even survived at all. Luckily the human's reign was over, but it would be a long time before they were forgotten.
Kuno twitched his ears, getting bored of thinking about the stories his mother told him. He would rather be tormenting someone, or at least doing something other than this. He didn't like when he was all alone, with no-one to talk to.
With another twitch of his ears, Kuno stood up and looked around the empty ocean side, narrowing his eyes against the ocean mist. He then gazed up into the darkening sky, howling loud and clear for any wolf nearby to hear. Maybe someone would answer his call.
