She was hunting, but not for prey. No Andee was looking for water. Something to slake the incredible thirst she felt. Her throat was so dry she could barely swallow and her tongue felt leadened. So she searched for that scent of water, that crisp clean scent that would tickle her nose in the most familiar and welcomed way. She paced forward through the softening snow. It gave away to easily under her paws. The summer was here, yes, but the cold of fall should be setting in. It should be getting cooler and the snow crisper. But it wasn't. It was becoming worse, the never ending heat that was melting the precious little snow they had.
She stopped and her mouth gaped open to scent the air. There it was straight ahead! She paused and glanced around as if suddenly feeling as if someone were watching her. Feeling self-conscious because she was so thirsty and probably looked ragged, Andee trotted forward through a grouping of trees. She was suddenly there. The grass poked it's way up through the melting snow, but all she saw was the large pond before her.
Breaking into a run she skidded to a halt right before she touched the beginning of the water. Bending her head she took in great, grateful gulps of water. She drank until she was coughing, during her excitement some water had gone down her trachea. But at last the terrible thirst was gone and bringing herself away from the silt of the shore she laid down in one of the thicker patches of snow, suddenly extremely drowsy. She was just so glad to be away from that horrid need. Andarial did not like feeling dependent on anything. Not even if it were something as important, yet trivial as drinking or eating.

Seven was resting. She had been dozing in the shade of a tree for about an hour, and she was waking up just now. Normally she would have chosen a more sheltered spot, but her exhaustion had caused her to ignore caution. Relieved, she discovered nothing around her had been disturbed, and no odd scents were in range. A walk around the pond would wake her up. She yawned and padded to the shoreline.
She lapped up some water, relishing the cool liquid. Surprised, she noticed ripples. Where had the come from? She raised her head to gaze across the pond. On the far side, she could make out another creature. As far as she could tell, it was a snow leopard. She wasn't positive though, and went to get a closer look. Seven walked around the edge of the lake, keeping in the shadows, just in case the other animal hadn't spotted her yet. She hadn't used caution, and she was worried she might pay.
Her paws were wet from trodding near the water, and the mud collected grass and pebbles on her worn out pads. A refreshing breeze blew through, and some snow from the trees landed on Seven's pelt. It was cool and wet, melting as soon as it made contact with her fur. She was so pleased by this that she almost forgot about the other snow leopard. Almost.

Her ears tilted forward, catching the sound of lapping water. She lifted her head and inhaled deeply, the scent of a female snow leopard came to her. Standing Andee paced out from beneath the shade and into the horribly hot sun. She blinked, her gray-green eyes glancing around until she could make out the blending shape of the cat, Inhaling again she grinned. This could perhaps be her first recruit. She padded forward to meet the other animal. A soft smile on her face. Ah, wouldn't it be wonderful to have another cat on her side. To lead into the war she was planning with the wolves. Perhaps she wouldn't be so lonely then.
"Greetings, fellow leopard," her voice was formal, a little cold but not unwelcoming. She sat after she had made it half-way to the other leopard. She wondered what the cat's name was. She figured she would learn soon enough. Would she join Andee on her crusade? If she was like the other leopards she would want to be free of the shackles the wolves had placed on their territory. But all leopards were different and had their own personality. Unlike the humans seemed to think.
The humans, what little were left on the island, didn't see to think there were souls inside the cat's mind or body. She scoffed at them. How stupid could they be, didn't they see the spark of intelligence behind the cats' eyes? Didn't they see the way they could love their mates? She shook her head at the stupidity of humans when she muse about this, which was quite often. Was it them who had no souls? They showed much anger and viciousness toward each other and the animals. They killed with only rage in their hearts. Sure Andee was like that in some ways, but at least she felt the guilt afterward, they didn't seem to.

When Seven heard the other snow leopard's greeting, she tensed. This feline sounded too sociable. Seven loved a nice chat, but after being wound up from her "risky" nap, she was grumpy and tense. "I'll say hello, and will consider saying a quick goodbye." replied Seven. She wanted to leave, but she was sure that the snow leopard wouldn't let her.
The sun was hot, and her thick fur stuck together in clumps. The pleasant feeling of snow on her pelt had vanished, after it melted and was introduced to the sun. The lake water, though cold, was warm in comparison to the days behind her. Seven didn't remember much from then, but she did remember the nearly frozen water, with it's ice cold temperature. How she wished it was still like that.

The leopard spoke in a tired and grumpy way. But Andee supposed it could be from the heat. Or was she merely just that way all the time? She shrugged her shoulders delicately, dragging a paw through the slushy snow she said,"I will not stop you if you wish to leave. But I do want to know something if you will grace me with an answer. Are you tired of the heat or of the wolves?" She glanced up from staring at her paw and the track it left behind. The look was sly and interested in the other cat's answer.
She wasn't planning on forcing her to join the troop, Andee was making. She just had the intention of putting it out there, giving the leopard something to think about. She looked like a good one to add to the troop. She tiled her head to the side and waited. The rest of her completely still but as always her tail twitched. It was in constant motion, as if this skin she had on was trying to contain the soul of something much larger than her body was. It was hard to contain such a beast in such a tiny form. It made her impatient and quite aggressive. She wondered sometimes if she had been born larger that perhaps she wouldn't be so vicious toward anything but leopards.
But as usual she was quite welcoming to this big cat, or as welcoming as she could be. Much more welcoming than this nameless creature was to her. Her claws flexed and retracted, in doing so making little holes in the dirt. She wondered if this animal would attack, Andee could always use a good fight. It was one of her favorite things to do.

The other feline's question intrigued Seven. Why would she ask something like that? She supposed it deserved an answer, since there was no harm in the question. "Both are a nuisance," said Seven. She had been asked a simple and straightforward question, and she had given a simple and straightforward answer. I'm only being fair, she thought to herself. This snow leopard was nameless to her, she realized. Names were not usually Seven's main interest, but she would like to know the other snow leopard's name. That way, she would know if she encountered her again.
Seven glanced around, wondering if there was any prey about. She wasn't particularly hungry, but the occasional snack was not a bad thing. There were only a few rodents and such, nothing interesting. She sighed, today was apparently not her lucky day. Seven wasn't actually sure if she'd ever had a lucky day. Maybe, but she doubted it. What in her life could be defined as lucky?
